In our first post we posed the question, “What is truth?”(1) That question was asked two thousand years ago by Pontius Pilate, a Roman political leader. He asked the question to Jesus Christ before Pilate approved of Christ’s death. Again, Pilate never gave Christ the opportunity to answer, but if he had, how would Jesus Christ answer the question?
Saul of Tarsus (2) wrote, “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.” (3)
Therefore, we don’t know for sure how Christ would’ve answered the question. What we can do is look at statements He made when He spoke about truth. What did Christ state about the truth?

the author states, that “Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), and He called the Holy Spirit “the Spirit of truth” (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13). A more indirect affirmation that God is truth is Hebrews 6:18, which says that “it is impossible for God to lie.”
Websters 1828 Dictionary, one of the most comprehensive and accurate dictionaries ever written defines truth as, “Conformity to fact or reality; 4. Veracity; purity from falsehood;”
So truth is the opposite of lying.
